FORT PIERCE — A 9-year-old who attends C.A. Moore Elementary School was arrested after he brought a pocket knife on campus and threatened to cut his siblings, according to police reports released Tuesday.
The youth had shown the knife to other students on a school bus on Monday, police said.
He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.
When school staff asked his mother to come to the school, the student “began to talk to (school staff) in a disrespectful tone” and school employees had to quiet him down, the reports said.
Police said his mother told them the boy took the knife from their home without her knowing. She said she had “attempted to get help for the (boy) including medicine and counseling, but nothing is working out,” according to the report.According to a disciplinary sheet provided to police and given to the Department of Children and Families, the boy was involved in ten different incidents that required school counseling, including fighting.The report notes that a school bus driver said the youth and his brother are always hitting each other on the bus and must be separated.
