Baseball: Saccavino pitches 4-hitter as Jensen Beach blanks Flagler Palm Coast

C.J. Fitzpatrick went 2 for 3 and scored three runs Thursday as Jensen Beach High School’s baseball team defeated Flagler Palm Coast 9-0 in the Florida League High School Invitational at Sanford.

Cade Moyer went 2-for-2 with a run for Jensen Beach (11-4), which used a seven-run sixth inning to improve to 2-1 in the tournament.

Five players — Jesse Alker, Kyle Bauer, Tyler Bauman, D.J. Lemay and Kyle Guttveg — had one RBI apiece.

Paul Saccavino (3-2) pitched a four-hitter and walked none during a 76-pitch outing.

Flagler Palm Coast is 5-11.

Jensen Beach plays a team to be determined at 9 a.m. Friday.

South Fork 6, Montverde Academy 2: Clay Tress went 3 for 4 with two RBIs as the Bulldogs won at Sanford Memorial Stadium.

Brando Centrone added three hits, two runs and one RBI for South Fork (7-9), which had 13 hits.

Nick Snyder and Joe Barcia had two hits apiece.

John Resnick and Dillon Isom combined on a four-hitter with seven strikeouts.


Lincoln Park Academy 7, Montevallo (Ala.) 3: Christopher Montpetit went 2 for 3 with an RBI and was the winning pitcher as the Greyhounds finished 3-0 in the Steve Georgiadis Memorial Invitational at Seminole High School.

Lincoln Park (10-6) was a tournament co-champion.

Ian Claudio went 2 for 2 with two runs and an RBI.

Lincoln Park plays at Glades Central at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Lincoln Park Academy 8, Largo 0: Mario Presutti went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs as the Greyhounds won at Seminole High School.

Drew Apugliese, Jake Larson and Chris Mejias combined on a four-hitter with 11 strikeouts for Lincoln Park (9-6).

Derek Schwimer had two hits and one RBI.


Sarasota 3, Port St. Lucie 0: Evan Mendoza pitched a one-hitter, walked one and struck out four as the Sailors won in the Sarasota Baseball Classic.

Mendoza was one out from a no-hitter when Port St. Lucie’s Chris Batista singled to right field with two outs in the seventh inning.

Port St. Lucie’s Marc Stewart allowed two hits and one earned run, walked four and struck out two.

Sarasota is 15-1. Port St. Lucie (10-5) finished 1-3 in the tournament.

Port St. Lucie hosts Fort Pierce Central at 4 p.m. Monday.


Bolles (Jacksonville) 6, Martin County 0: The Tigers (10-7) were shut out for the first time this season and finished 1-3 in the Central Florida Spring Break Slam.


St. Edward’s 11, Fort Pierce Westwood 1: Billy Egnezzo, Kishore Chundi and Scott Simpson combined on a two-hitter as the Pirates won in Fort Pierce.

Egnezzo took a no-hitter into the fourth inning before Fort Pierce Westwood’s Kaleb Owens doubled with two outs.

Chundi went 3 for 3 with two runs and two RBIs for St. Edward’s (4-7). Simpson doubled, tripled, scored two runs and had two RBIs.

Fort Pierce Westwood (0-14) has lost 17 consecutive games since defeating St. petersburg Gibbs on April 13, 2013.

St. Edward’s plays at Benjamin at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Community Christian 8, Lake Worth Christian 8 (8 inn., darkness): Zach Sammons had two hits and stole four bases as the Cougars tied the Defenders in a game stopped after eight innings because of darkness.

Danny Adkins allowed two hits in four-plus innings for Community Christian (5-6-1).

Community Christian plays at Covenant Christian at 4 p.m. Monday.

Jefferson City (Mo.) 7, Fort Pierce Central 2: Jake Walker drove in two runs as the Jays won in Fort Pierce.

Travis Hennessy scattered three hits and struck out 11 in five innings for Jefferson City (1-2).

Willie Micco reached base three times on two hits and a walk for Fort Pierce Central (6-4). Drew edwards had an RBI.

Fort Pierce Central hosts Champaign Centennial (Ill.) at 1 p.m. Friday.
