Child killed, 4 injured in Turnpike crash

A crash on the Florida Turnpike left a child dead, two people in critical condition and two others in serious condition.

The crash involved a tractor-trailer and a Dodge Caravan.

Florida Highway Patrol said Michael Arriola, 43, of Kissimmee, was driving south when he struck the rear of the tractor-trailer.

Arriola is in critical condition. A passenger in his van, Daniel Lacourture, 7, was killed. Mayra Lacouture, 43, was critically injured. Cataline Lacouture, 8 and Adriana Lacouture, 11, were serious injured.

The driver of the semi, Andres Rodriguez-Perez, 50, of Ocala, was not injured.

Investigators are not sure what caused the crash.
