The Fort Pierce Branch Library has announced its ‘Friday Matinee’ lineup for January. Held every Friday, the library presents a free film, starting at 2 p.m.
• Jan. 6 – “Stanley Iris” (1989) featuring Jane Fonda and Robert DeNiro. An illiterate cook at a company cafeteria tries to get the attention of a newly widowed woman. Running time: 104 minutes; PG-13*.
• Jan. 13 – “Notting Hill” (1999) featuring Hugh Grant and Julie Roberts. The life of a simple bookshop owner changes when he meets the most famous film star in the world. Running time: 124 minutes; PG-13*.
• Jan. 20 – “Jakob The Liar” (1999) featuring Robin Williams, Hannah Taylor-Gordon and Eva Igo. In 1944 Poland, a Jewish shopkeeper named Jakob is summoned to ghetto headquarters after being caught out near curfew. Running time: 120 minutes, rated PG-13*.
• Jan. 27 – “Ed TV” (1999) featuring Matthew McConaughey, Jenna Elfman and Woody Harrelson. A video store clerk named Ed agrees to have his life filmed by a camera crew for a TV network. Running time: 122 minutes; PG-13*.
Anyone younger than 13 wishing to attend a film rated PG-13* must have a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian. Permission slips will be available at the front desk on the first floor, starting Jan. 3.
