Dead body discovered in Fort Pierce

FORT PIERCE — Fort Pierce police are investigating the city’s 10th homicide of the year, according to a news release issued Thursday.

About 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, police responded to a call about a person who appeared motionless at the intersection of North 29th Street and Avenue P. They found Fort Pierce resident Dravious Newton, 34, dead in a field with a gunshot wound to his torso, police spokesman Sgt. Dennis McWilliams said.
