FORT PIERCE — A 37-year-old Fort Pierce man was shot while he likely was walking to a nearby convenience store, according to a police report.
Officers went to the emergency room at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center Heart Institute about 12:15 a.m. Wednesday after they got a report of a man who was admitted there with a gunshot wound in the abdomen, according to the report. He was injured somewhere in the 2500 block of Booker Street.
The man commonly walks to a nearby convenience store at North 25th Street and Avenue D for his cigarettes, and he doesn’t have any problems with anyone in that area, according to the report.
