Fort Pierce Pilots attend Las Vegas convention

Three members of the Pilot Club of Fort Pierce recently attended the 96th Pilot International Convention in Las Vegas.

Barbara McKenzie, Coni Tabor-Gorman and Bob Gorman were among the more than 620 Pilots who participated in the global event that drew representatives from countries and geographic areas around the world.

Locally, Pilot Club members make an impact in the community through service, volunteering at the Smithsonian Aquarium, Mustard Seed, Chamber of Commerce Visitors Center and local Assisted Living facilities.

The club provides financial support of the Alzheimer’s ID locator bracelet program (which they were instrumental in establishing) with an annual October “Birdies for Bracelets” golf tournament.

Proceeds from other fund-raising events have been used to award scholarships.

The club is currently planning a “packing party” for Grace Packs, weekend food packages distributed partner schools in the St. Lucie County School system to students in need.

The Pilot Club of Fort Pierce meets on the second and fourth Thursday at 6:30 p.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2011 S. 13th St., Fort Pierce.
