Fort Pierce pizza man and Obama reunited got us thinking

It’s the return of the pizza man!

You’ve probably heard by now that President Barack Obama made a trip to sunny Florida this weekend to play some golf.

But the most interesting part (to us, at least) is that he had a visit with Scott Van Duzer, the owner of Fort Pierce pizza restaurant Big Apple Pizza and Pasta.

The two have a history. They met in 2012 and Van Duzer instantly became famous after he picked the president up and give him a huge bear hug.

Media outlets from all over (including us) rushed to get an interview with Van Duzer.

We did. And we got a hug, which was photographed by Post photographer Jen Podis.

I’ve had the photo at my desk since then.

And so has my editor.

Back when we interviewed him, Van Duzer, who was extremely surprised by all the interest, said the hug was “something special” that he’d never forget.

You’re not alone, Van Duzer.
