Fort Pierce teen, Devontae Dukes, dies after being shot Saturday in St. Lucie …

ST. LUCIE COUNTY, Fla. – A 17-year-old Fort Pierce teenager shot late Saturday afternoon just north of Fort Pierce has died, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.

Devontae Dukes, 17, was pronounced dead at the emergency room of Lawnwood Regional Medical Center Heart Institute, Fort Pierce.

Dukes and his brother were together near North 35th Street and Avenue M shortly before 6 p.m. when a car pulled near them and someone fired at the two, hitting Devontae Dukes. He ran and fell near North 33rd Street and Avenue N, according to the sheriff’s office release.

He was treated there by county Fire Rescue paramedics, then taken by county Fire Rescue ambulance to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation into Duke’s death is continuing with detectives questioning possible witnesses. But more information is needed, the release said.
