Man killed in Fort Pierce



FORT PIERCE — Detectives are investigating a homicide that happened early Saturday morning in the 100 block of 25th Street.

The shooting happened about 3 a.m., police spokesman Eric Diaz said. The man who was shot was hospitalized but died from his injuries, Diaz said.

Detectives Saturday did not release information about either the gunman, who remains at large, or the man who died from the gunshot wound.

The altercation happened in front of the House of Meats store, police said.

Detectives did not say what led to the shooting.

The shooting death would be the eighth homicide this year in the city.
