Manatee-zone boat violation gets Fort Pierce man probation

A 37-year-old Fort Pierce man was placed on a year of probation Friday and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine for driving his boat too fast in a manatee zone.

Christopher Michael McManus had previously pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in waterborne activity contrary to law. His fine will be forwarded to the Lacey Act Reward Account to support wildlife conservation activities, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.
