Each month, the Fort Pierce Woman’s Club hosts a Quarter Auction to benefit local nonprofits. Recipients for 2017 included organizations such as United Against Poverty, CareBag, Molly’s House, We LEAP and others.
On Dec. 14, the bidding is expected to reach a fever pitch when fun seekers unite to play in support of the Hacienda Girls Ranch Legacy Fund, a charity near and dear to every Woman’s Club member in Florida.
Selected as the GFWC Florida Federation of Women’s Club’s President’s Project for 2016-2018, the ranch in Melbourne provides emergency shelter and serves as a foster care group home for girls ages 12-17. Additionally, it provides transitional living for girls ages 18-23.
Residents of the ranch often are victims of human trafficking, abuse and may suffer low self-esteem, addition to alcohol or drugs. The afflictions are many but the ranch provides a safe, comfortable healing place where hope abounds.
Help these girls while enjoying a festive evening. Bidding paddles cost $1 and for quarters, prizes valued at $15 to $100 are up for grabs, which is especially fortunate with the holidays right around the corner.
Vendors also will be on-hand with ready-to-purchase gifts and unique raffle items.
The Quarter Auction will take place at the Fort Pierce Woman’s Club clubhouse, 2408 S. 29th St., Fort Pierce. Doors open at 5:45 p.m. and dinner is available for a fee. Don’t forget to pack your quarters.
